David Holliday Art

As a stark contrast to the urban landscape, I am also drawn to areas of natural beauty such as the mountains of the Lake District and the rugged hills of The Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site.  Brooding skies, exposed granite and gnarled weather-beaten trees feature in these images. When I paint rocks, scree or boulders, I use straight-from-the-earth pigments. The depth, and complexity of the natural world is captured in the subtle earth tones of  ‘Hermatite Violet’ and ‘Tiger's Eye Genuine’ and the rich jewel colours of ‘Amazonite’, ‘Purpurite’ and ‘Rhodonite’.
