David Holliday Art

As a stark contrast to the urban landscape, I am also drawn to areas of natural beauty such as the mountains of the Lake District and the rugged hills of Northumberland.  Brooding skies, exposed granite and gnarled weather-beaten trees feature in these images. When I paint rocks, scree or boulders, I use straight-from-the-earth pigments such as the subtle earth tones of  ‘Hermatite Violet’ and ‘Tiger's Eye Genuine’ and the rich jewel colours of ‘Amazonite’, ‘Purpurite’ and ‘Rhodonite’.
